The Eye Exam...
Every year millions of Americans have their eyes examined. Some for glasses or contacts, others for eye diseases, and others in order to help their physicians monitor systemic issues throughout their bodies. No matter the reason for the visit, an eye examination is always a good idea. The fact is that an eye exam is simply much more than "which one is better, one or two." It involves the evaluation of two complex processes… 1) vision 2) eye health Seeing well is so important to our daily lives, yet we often take our sight for granted. The eye is a complex organ that actually take light and shapes and combines with the fellow eye and the brain to make sense of the world around us! The process of vision is not easily explained, but can be wonderfully enjoyed.
Did you know… A lot can be found not only by checking to see what and how you see the world outside, but also by what the doctor can see inside you! A simple exam can many times reveal the cause of your headaches, effects of your diet, potential neurological issues, potential cardiovascular issues, and many, many other things. These are some of the reasons why it is so important to take good care of your eyes by getting them regularly checked. In addition, the eye doctor must pay close attention to details, not only to make sure that your vision is optimal, but that your health is intact and that all of your ocular needs are met to match your lifestyle. A typical exam involves a check of your vision, eye pressure, a brief neurological evaluation, and a check of the front and back of the eye. |
